The 80’s are back and seem to have influenced a number of trends this season, the most prevalent being Neon. Gaining popularity in the 80’s, neon symbolized optimism and lightheartedness. Neon is back with a vengeance and it’s no longer just for the kids. Whether it be shoes or a handbag such as Balenciaga mules or a Prada clutch used as a neon accent for a formal or professional look or a head-to-toe neon ensemble, this time there is something neon for everyone.
Among the first to reintroduce the trend was Prada, releasing everything from flaming neon wedges to highlighter-hued handbags and neon tulle dresses. Balenciaga followed suit, introducing a variety of neon colors both in their coveted “Ville” bag and in their lineup of satin “Knife” mules. Even Gucci hopped on the bandwagon, giving their classic “Princetown” loafers a new life in neon pink as well as introducing their “‘Neon Flora” collection. Comprised of everything from Ready-To-Wear to watches, scarves and their “Ophidia” bag, all featuring their iconic “Flora” print trimmed in neon leather.
